LVT Laying Pattern Trend: Basket Weave

Design flooring has a huge impact on the entire look of a space and lately, one pattern in particular has been stealing the spotlight. Basket Weave LVT flooring. Whilst we adore the use of trends to spark inspiration and open up new ideas, it’s important to ensure they make sense for you and your space too. That’s why we are taking a deep dive into Basket Weave, the trendy yet not-so-new intricate LVT flooring design.

Basket Weave flooring has been around for centuries, however it has seen a surge in popularity in recent years offering a more intricate alternative to other classic designs like herringbone and chevron. With its detailed pattern, Basket Weave adds depth, character and texture to any space. That said, it’s a pattern that can make a bold statement, so when considering Basket Weave LVT, it’s important to think about where it is being used, from the size of the room to the overall style of the space.

Basket Weave flooring in small spaces: Basket Weave has a high-impact look that works well in smaller rooms, where detail is being embraced. Those looking to create a moody or cosy aesthetic should consider darker-toned floors such as BSK50 – Roasted Oak, or BSK55 – Regal Timber that will immediately give the feeling of more intimacy. Or, for those who prefer a more open and airy feel, a lighter wood such as BSK51 – Pale Oak or BSK54 – Naked Oak offer the same eye-catching intricacy whilst enhancing natural light and a sense of calm.

Basket Weave flooring in large spaces: This versatile design looks at home in larger spaces too.  Basket Weave will bring a timeless and impactful feature to a large room, which is best balanced with a more muted design scheme so as not to overwhelm the space. Lighter oak tones such as BSK51 – Pale Oak or BSK54 – Naked Oak are popular choices for large spaces so to maintain a bright aesthetic. Alternatively, the richness of BSK50 – Roasted Oak is a great choice for those looking to embrace a more heritage inspired aesthetic, whilst BSK43 – Carpenters Oak brings warmth to cottage and farmhouse style settings. For something truly unique, Basket Weave LVT flooring can be mixed with a plainer pattern, like plank, in the same tone to subtly draw attention to specific areas. Think reading corners, under dining tables or around kitchen islands. This is a clean and creative way of using laying patterns to create structure in an open plan area.

Basket Weave now being available in LVT, as opposed to traditional wood flooring also means there’s no need to sacrifice practicality for style. With bevelled edges and a realistic surface texture, our Basket Weave designs offer all the beauty of real wood with the added benefits of water-resistance, durability, and it’s easy to clean – perfect for busy, modern homes! Better still, this elegant aesthetic is more accessible than ever, with j2 Flooring Basket Weave LVT being one of the most competitively priced options on the market.

Prefer the look of Basket Weave but with a more structured finish? Our wood panel designs offer a similar sense of sophistication and visual impact, with a more uniform layout. Our Versaille panel features a Basket Weave design set inside a border, pictured here in VER51 – Pale Oak.

With any LVT flooring, installation is key, but with the precision required for an intricate pattern like Basket Weave this is especially true. At j2 Flooring we go to great lengths to make our flooring as easy as possible for our installers to work with, however we always recommend working with a professional, familiar with complex laying patterns, to ensure the best possible finish.
